Final | Bronze Game |
There will be the broadcast of the games written in bold at Czech TV website. Three games marked with TV emoji 📺 will be available live at Czech Sport TV.
Rules
Czech Sport TV will be broadcasting the Playoffs and the selected Round Robin Games on sheets A and B. Teams may be asked to play the same sheet and stones more than once to follow the TV schedule.
The PRAGUE CLASSIC 2021 will be played in four groups of six teams. All games will be 8 ends and played with a time limit of 1 hour 50 minutes. When the clock runs to 00:00 teams will complete the end being played and play 1 additional end, unless they were playing the 8th end. There is no 4th end break.
Unless stated otherwise WCF rules will apply including the 5 Rock Rule.
Stone colour, Pre game practice, Hammer, DSC
The team listed on the top of the scoreboard will play the red stones. For each team’s first game in the Round Robin there will be a 5-minute practice. A coin toss will decide which team practices first. At the conclusion of the practice the team will play 1 stone towards the Home End to decide the Hammer. Team may choose Clockwise or Counterclockwise rotation, any player may throw. At the conclusion of the first game and all subsequent Round Robin games the teams will play one LSD stone (rotation optional) towards the Home End. This stone will be measured to determine the Hammer in the following Round Robin game and also count toward the team’s overall competition DSC result. Winning team throws the first LSD.
Round Robin
There will be no time outs in the Round Robin stages.
If a Round Robin game is tied at the conclusion of the 8th end then one Extra end will be played. If the team with Hammer fails to score, the game will be awarded to the opposition.
Playoffs
The top two teams from each group will advance to playoff. The top teams from each group will be ranked 1st – 4th by DSC. The second placed teams from each group will be ranked 5th – 8th by DSC. This ranking will decide pairings for the quarterfinals with 1st playing 8th, 2nd playing 7th, etc. This ranking system will ensure that for the quarterfinals each game will feature a 1st and 2nd placed team from the Round Robin. The higher ranked team in each Playoff Game has a choice of 1st / 2nd practice or stone colour. The organizers reserves the right to make an adjustment to the 1st – 8th ranking if two teams scheduled to play in the quarterfinals come from the same group.
The losing teams of the quarterfinals will finish at 5th place.
In the Playoffs extra ends will be played until the game is decided.
Playoff games will have a 9 minute practice followed by 2 LSD stones, first clockwise then counterclockwise. Best combined DSC score has Hammer in the first end. DSC score does not carry over to the next game. A minimum of 6 ends must be played. Each team will be allowed one Time Out even if they do not have a Coach. Coaches must remain on the rubber walkways. Travel time for home end is 75 seconds and 105 seconds for away end.
All Playoff games must be completed for WCT points to be earned and prize money to be awarded.
The organizers reserve the right to make changes in the system of play if required and to make ruling decisions.
