Rules
Selected games will be live streamed.
The MD Prague Trophy 2023 will be played in four groups each of five teams. All games will be 8 ends and played without time limit and with no 4th end break. A minimum of 6 ends must be played. Each team will be allowed one time out even if they do not have a coach. Travel time to home end is 75 seconds, to away end 105 seconds and coaches must remain on the rubber walkways. One time out is allowed in extra end.
If a round robin game is tied at the conclusion of the 8th end then one extra end will be played. If the team with hammer fails to score the game will be awarded to the opposition.
Playoffs will be for 8 teams. The top 2 teams in each group (WCF Ranking System) will qualify for the playoffs.
The losing teams of the quarter finals will all be ranked as 5th place.
Unless stated otherwise, WCF rules will apply.
Stone colour, pre-game practice, hammer, DSC
The team listed on the top of the scoreboard will play the red stones and has 1st practice.
For every game there will be a 4 minute practice followed by one clockwise and one counterclockwise LSD.
As per the WCF system the LSD measures will be recorded (the worst LSD is erased) and may help determine ranking according to DSC for the playoffs and overall final rankings.
Play-offs
Sheets for playoff games will be specified. The top teams from each group will be ranked 1st – 4th by DSC. The second placed teams from each group will be ranked 5th – 8th by DSC. This ranking will decide pairings for the quarter finals with 1st playing 8th, 2nd playing 7th, etc. This ranking system will ensure that for the quarter finals each game will feature a 1st and 2nd placed team from the round robin. The higher ranked team in each playoff game has the choice of 1st/2nd practice or Stone colour.
Playoff games will have a 4-minute practice followed by 2 LSD stones. First clockwise then counterclockwise.
Lowest combined DSC score has hammer in the first end. DSC score does not carry over to the next game.
All play-off games must be completed for WCT points to be earned and prize money to be awarded.
The organizers reserve the right to make changes in the system of play if required and to make ruling decisions.
